They also lowered the risk of cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack, and non-fatal stroke by 14% and decreased the risk of death from any cause by 13%.9
These findings are especially important for individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD), a progressive condition affecting an estimated 850 million people globally10. CKD can lead to kidney failure, requiring dialysis or transplant, and is linked to premature death, often from heart disease.
